New Moderator at FT Discussion Group

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the support you have given this FT discussion group over the past many years. It was an idea that started many years ago with a “list” that was run by list-bot. I don’t even know if the domain even exists today. Is there anyone today on FT that was on my list-bot discussion group? Anyone remember it? Those were the earlier days of the internet before Yahoo and Google were even known names. Hotmail was not owned by Microsoft and connections to the internet were dial-up and slow… If you had a 56k modem you were lightning fast…. Later we moved the list over to an interesting email discussion list service at YahooGroups.com and that became the new home under the new name of TipplerTalk. In those days it was learned that there were many pigeons commonly called tipplers even though they were not at all like the competition English Flying Tipplers we knew. As we “wised-up” we realized that for 8 years the big debate was to cause a final division in which TipplerTalk would become two separate interest groups, specifically TipplerTopics and FlyingTipplers. For those of you who are still with us from the original days, I have to extend a big thank you. It’s been a long haul.

As of recent, the call went out for a new moderator to give us all some help in this regard and to give me a much needed break. The new arrangements will be as follows starting immediately: The discussion group will continue to promote the English Flying Tippler only and provide a place for people of all clubs, creeds and nationalities to share their interests and opinions (in English) as long as those ideals are in harmony with the rules and objectives of the list. I have selected among the possibilities a new moderator who you know well, Dave Bertenshaw, a respected NTU member and someone extremely knowledgeable on English Flying Tipplers. Besides myself, the new moderator may also choose to use additional helpers to assist in monitoring posts of moderated individuals just as Oskar did for me this past year.

We can all be friends and supportive no matter who we are or where we live. We rally behind our friends as a fraternity of tipplermen even if we have never had the privilege to personally meet them. That’s the way it should be. Once again, a big thank you to everyone for your support.

Yours in the sport,
Michael J Beat
